The Henry Martyn Institute (HMI), created in 1930, is headquartered in Hyderabad, India. It is the only institution in Asia, which - in addition to conducting research and educational programs in Islamic studies - also runs its own practical projects in religious conflict resolution, and participates in similar initiatives organized by others. Its projects deal with mutual understanding, the development of self-governance, improvement of the quality of life among diverse local communities, the participation of women and women's organizations in reconciliation processes, and overcoming religious and caste divisions in India.

The Institute offers master's, doctoral and post-doctoral programs in studies of the culture, history and languages of Islam, and interfaith dialogue. In addition, it organizes seminars, summer courses and lectures, as well as training in other parts of India and abroad. HMI students and scholars have access to the Institute's library, research tools, book publications and semi-annual bulletin (no online version).
