THE M. ANIELEWICZ CENTER www.centrum-anielewicza.uw.edu.pl
The Mordechaj Anielewicz Center for Research and Education on Jewish History and Culture was founded in 1990 under an agreement between Warsaw University and the Jacek Fliderbaum Foundation. Currently it functions as a unit in the Institute of History at Warsaw University.

Professor Jerzy Tomaszewski created the Anielewicz Center and directed it until his retirement in 2001. Dr. Jolanta Żyndul currently coordinates the Center's activities. The Center conducts classes for history students and students of other faculties who are interested in the history and culture of the Polish Jews. In 2001, the "History of the Polish Jews" study module was created; it is offered in the Institute to students in the third, fourth and fifth years. The Center also regularly organizes field trips and seminars for historians and researchers interested in the history of the Polish Jews. On May 8, 2003, the Center organized the first Jewish Day at Warsaw University, an event to promote Jewish history and culture. In 2001, at the initiative of Professor Antoni Kruszewski and Isaac Kotkowski, the Irena Grabowska-Kruszewska and Enta Marmelstein-Kotkowska Foundation was set up to fund the publications of young historians and students.

As of the 2003/2004 academic year, the Anielewicz Center for Research and Education on Jewish History and Culture at Warsaw University invites those interested to take part in postgraduate studies on the history and culture of the Polish Jews. The program is addressed to history and Polish language teachers, museum and archive staff, and cultural institution employees, who encounter Jewish issues in their professional work, as well as others wanting to deepen their knowledge of the subject.
