The European Research Center on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER) cooperates with many institutions around the world, such as Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Stanford University in the United States, and Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. The Center's main areas of research are international migration, ethnic relations, the living conditions of migrants in their new environments, multiculturalism, social exclusion on ethnic grounds, ethnic conflict, racism and nationalism.

ERCOMER is also a training and information center. The primary activities of the Center include promoting research, which often takes the form of comparative studies, through its network of academic contacts; supporting young researchers; and organizing seminars and conferences. The Center also offers courses of comparative study of migration, ethnic relations and multiculturalism. The website contains many links, news, research reports and current publications.
