CRN has been active in Australia since 1986. Its work focuses on conflict management, the role of mediators, conflicts in schools, and conflicts related to gender differences. CRN maintains links with conflict resolution programs at universities, organizes training on effective communication in conflict situations, and supports specific projects. Most of the advice given by CRN is based on its Twelve Skills for getting through a conflict situation. The advice is included in the CRN web pages.
The CRN website acts as a central element of a UNESCO-organized movement, the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World. Its goals are to support a culture of peace through education, work for human rights, ensure gender equality, and foster understanding, tolerance and solidarity.
