The Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) was founded in 1984 by Marshall Rosenberg for the purpose of disseminating his newly developed method of communication and conflict resolution on various levels of social and intercultural relations. The Nonviolent Communication (NVC) model can be learned through regional and international workshops given by licensed trainers, and also through publications, recordings and educational materials sold through the online store, offered free as downloads, or obtained electronically from NVC supporters.

The training programs are directed at groups such as staff of health and social services, staff and students at educational institutions, military and justice personnel, families and local communities.

The CNVC website includes descriptions of current projects, case studies, statistical data, scholarship application forms, a bibliography of articles and publications, helpful links, e-mail addresses of NVC trainers, guidelines for self-study of the method, and a discussion forum.
