The Central Asia and the Caucasus Center for Social and Political Studies has been registered in the Swedish town of Luleo since November 1998. Dr. Murad Esenov (Sweden) is the founder and head of the Center. The Center is set up on the basis of IAC Central Asia, which existed until 1998.
The main objectives of the Center for Social and Political Studies include education and analysis of the social and political situation in countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as creation and distribution of a database.
The Center primarily engages researchers from countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. The informational and analytical activity of the Center covers the following areas:
- Democracy and institutions of private property in countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus
- Interstate integration in Central Asia and the Caucasus
- Religion in the social and political life of countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus
- Ethnic conflicts in countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus: early intervention and achievement of compromise
- The role of raw materials in shaping national independence in countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus
- National and regional security issues in Central Asia and the Caucasus
